One of the more appealing aspects of aviation is that when you’re in the cockpit, everything matters. The inside of an airplane is definitely not one of those places that suffer fools gladly. That’s why most pilots are very good about keeping excessive gadgets out of the cockpit.

But these days, that’s getting harder and harder to do. Advances in electronics like have made aviation GPS and other equipment readily available to amateur pilots at relatively low prices. But do pilots really need all this extra gear in their planes? You can definitely have too much of a good thing when it comes to aviation accessories.

A basic aviation GPS system is definitely a great asset in the air, but most of the time you can just skip past the accessories that go with it. After all, there’s only so much space in your cockpit. And speaking of limited resources, cash fall in that category. You definitely don’t want to spend too much of your aviation budget on gadgets while ignoring necessities like aircraft tools.

There’s also a school of thought that looks for flexible accessories that can be used on the ground, too, like a VXA 220 transmitter.

Remember, aviation is serious so steer clear of useless gadgets.
